Are you 100% certain of the export jurisdiction or classification of your products or technology? Until you know which jurisdiction your product or technology falls under, you cannot classify the export and there are multiple circumstances that could warrant a commodity jurisdiction request. OnPoint can assist your company in preparation of Commodity Jurisdiction (CJ) requests to determine whether an item or service is subject to the export licensing authority of the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC). Classifications – Commodity Jurisdiction, ECCN, USML, Schedule B
Are you 100% certain of the export jurisdiction or classification of your products or technology? OnPoint can assist and guide you in obtaining a commodity jurisdiction and the appropriate classification. To properly classify a commodity, you must first know the proper jurisdiction, e.g., DOC or DOS (see ‘Commodity Classification’ services). Once you know the proper jurisdiction, OnPoint can walk you through determining the proper Export Control Classification Number (ECCN) under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the United States Munitions List (USML) category under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Schedule B number for the export documentation.
